Safe cleaning basics
A cleaner home starts with the right order, the right product, and a few simple safety habits.
- Clean visible dirt first; disinfecting works best after soil and residue are removed.
- Focus routine cleaning on high-touch areas such as handles, switches, faucets, counters, remotes, and phones.
- Read labels for surface compatibility, contact time, gloves, ventilation, storage, and first aid.
- Never mix bleach with ammonia, vinegar, toilet bowl cleaner, or other chemicals.
- Use good airflow when cleaning with stronger products, especially in bathrooms and small rooms.
- Store cleaning products upright, labeled, closed, and out of reach of children and pets.
